App Tutorial

Step-by-step guides to using the app, Android Auto and CarPlay: use each section’s menu to quickly find what you need.

Tutorial App

User profile

To access the my-ev-fleet App, download it, open it, and log in by tapping “Profiles” (the icon in the centre of the bottom bar).

On the login screen, enter the credentials you received.

Payment method

No payment method is required. All charging sessions are billed directly to the company at the end of the month.

RFID TAG – KEYFOB

To charge, you can use the my-ev-fleet App directly, or the RFID KeyFob tag, which lets you charge anywhere in Europe.

The RFID tag you receive is already linked to your account.

Map and charging stations

Filters

The bar at the top contains filters that let you choose stations by category: you can view all stations on the map, or only those belonging to specific types (e.g. HPC stations, motorway stations, stations located at hotels, restaurants…).

Tap the heart icon to see only the charging points you’ve saved as favourites.

At the bottom left, next to the magnifying glass, you can filter by connector type and power.

Search function

The “Search” function (magnifying glass icon, bottom left) lets you search by city/country or by a specific location. Your recent searches are saved in your history and you can clear them at any time.

Charging stations

Browsing the map, you’ll see every charging point you can activate in Italy and across Europe with the my-ev-fleet App and/or KeyFob.

On the map you have access to the main information for each charging point, including real-time availability:

Green = at least one free connector

Blue = both connectors in use

Red = both connectors out of service

The light-blue pin marks AC charging points, while the dark-blue pin marks DC charging points.

Charging stations located at hospitality venues, businesses, tourist attractions, and car parks are marked with category-specific markers. We recommend always checking station accessibility on the App, on the venue’s detail page.

Charging station details

Tap a charging station on the map to see the main information: address, number and type of connectors, power. Swipe up to open the full page with charging rate information, any access hours, and the station operator. You can save the station as a favourite by tapping the heart in the top right.

Next to each charging point there’s a bell icon: tap it to turn on notifications so you’re alerted when the charging point becomes occupied/free.

Tap the blue “Route” icon to start navigation straight away and reach the station.

For all the details on the charging process, see the “Charging process” section.

Travel tools

Route Planner

Tapping the map icon (bottom centre of the screen) opens a window where you can enter a series of details (vehicle, starting point and destination, battery percentage…) and plan your trip.

The planner shows the length and duration of the route and the charging stops you’ll need.

You can save the trip and view it offline too, or start the route straight away with a navigation app. (Google Maps, Waze, Apple Maps)

EMX

To activate eMX, tap the dedicated icon, bottom centre. eMX enables free-navigation mode: as you move around the map, nearby stations appear (type, distance).

Landscape view

You can also use the evway App in landscape mode, by rotating your smartphone horizontally, for a better view of the map — especially while travelling.

Station-availability notifications

Next to each charging point there’s a bell icon: tap it to turn on notifications so you’re alerted when the charging point becomes occupied/free.

Charging

Starting and stopping a charge

To charge using the App, just follow a few simple steps:

  • choose the station
  • choose the connector to use and swipe to start charging
  • plug in the cable within 60 seconds and wait for the notification confirming the charge has started

If you’re using the my-ev-fleet KeyFob, simply hold it against the reader on the charging station to start the session, then plug in the cable within 60 seconds.

To stop the session via the App, press the “Stop” button in the “Active sessions” area.

If you’re using the my-ev-fleet KeyFob, hold it against the charging connector to stop the session.

Active sessions and charging history

In the “Profile” area you can view the history of every charging session, split into public, company, and home.

For each session you can view: date, kWh charged, session cost, CO2 saved, session duration, and charging time.

Charging time refers to the actual time energy was delivered, while session duration refers to the total time the car remained connected to the charging point.

The time shown depends on the time sent by the charging station’s operator, which may use a different time zone; the session duration, however, is always accurate.

Notifications – charging status

As soon as charging starts, you’ll receive a notification confirming the session has been authorised.

Once the session ends, you’ll receive a final notification with the details of the session just completed.

30 minutes before the rate changes (i.e. before a time-based rate is added on top of the consumption-based one) you’ll receive a notification so you can free up the connector and make it available to other users.

If you don’t free up the bay, after those 30 minutes you’ll receive a second notification letting you know the rate has changed.

Turning on notifications

To receive notifications from the evway App, go to your smartphone’s Settings, tap “Notifications”, select the “evway” App, and tap “Allow notifications”.

Rates

What rates apply?

In every European country, a single rate applies per connector type (AC and DC/HPC), valid for all charging stations regardless of the operator.

We recommend always checking costs in the App before starting a session.

A consumption-based rate applies, on top of which a time-based rate may be added:

AC stations:

  • A consumption-based rate applies for the whole session
  • After the first 4 consecutive hours, a time-based rate is added on top of the consumption-based rate for each hour — or part of an hour
  • Between midnight and 8am the time-based rate is not applied

Example 1: charging session started at 22:00

The consumption-based rate applies for the entire charging session.

Between midnight and 8:00am, the time-based rate is suspended, but charging time still counts: starting the session at 22:00, the first 4 hours expire at 02:00.

From 08:01 onward, the time-based rate is then added to the consumption-based rate.

Example 2: charging session started at 06:00

The consumption-based rate applies for the entire charging session.

Between midnight and 8:00am, the time-based rate is suspended, but charging time still counts: starting the session at 06:00, the first 4 hours expire at 09:00.

In this case the time-based rate is added to the consumption-based rate once the 4 hours are up — i.e. at 09:00.

DC and HPC stations:

  • A consumption-based rate applies for the whole session
  • After the first consecutive hour, a time-based rate is added on top of the consumption-based rate for each hour — or part of an hour — including night-time hours

Tutorial App – Android Auto

Android Auto App

The evway App is also available on Android Auto.

To use it directly from your car’s infotainment system, just connect your smartphone to Android Auto.

The requirements set for EV-charging service Apps on Android Auto do not allow the navigation feature to be integrated.

The Android Auto App is very handy for viewing nearby stations and starting a charge without getting out of the car. If you want to reach a destination other than the suggested available stations (shown in the list on the left of the screen), we recommend using the MOBILE App.

Map and charging stations

Filters

The side tab has filters that let you choose stations by category: you can view all stations on the map, or only those belonging to specific categories (e.g. HPC, motorway, restaurants…). Tapping “Favorites” shows the charging points you’ve saved as favourites.

Charging stations

Tapping “Nearby Stations” shows every public charging station that’s interoperable with evway near you.

Stations are numbered based on their distance from your current location. The side tab shows each station’s main information, such as category and distance. Stations are shown on the map in a box whose colour changes with the charging station’s status:

  • green – the charging station is free
  • blue – the charging station is occupied
  • red – the charging station is under maintenance

For all the details on the charging process, see the “Charging process” section.

Charging

How to charge with Android Auto

To charge with Android Auto, tap the station you’re interested in from the side list and select the connector you want to start charging on. A series of detail screens will open, where you can choose the connector to start charging on and the payment method to use. Once you’ve checked the details are correct, you can start charging by tapping “Start”. Plug in the cable within 60 seconds and wait for the notification confirming the charge has started. If you’d rather be guided to the charging point, tap “Navigation”.

Tutorial App – CarPlay

CarPlay App

The evway App is also available on CarPlay.

To use it directly from your car’s infotainment system, just connect your iPhone to CarPlay.

The requirements Apple sets for EV-charging service Apps on CarPlay do not allow the navigation feature to be integrated.

The map in the CarPlay App shows you nearby charging stations based on your position (for example, once you’ve reached a destination), but it doesn’t move with you in the car: to view up-to-date charging stations, simply tap the blue arrow icon (top right of the screen).

The CarPlay App is therefore very handy for viewing nearby stations (for example, if you arrive somewhere you don’t know well) and for starting and/or stopping a charge without getting out of the car. If you want to reach a destination other than the suggested available stations (shown in the list on the left of the screen), we recommend using the MOBILE App.

From the MOBILE App you can choose to start navigation to your final destination via eMX, or you can send the command to the CarPlay App, which will start navigation through Apple’s Maps App. If you want to know which stations are available near you as you travel along your route, we recommend using our MOBILE App so you can activate the eMX assisted-navigation feature.

Map and charging stations

Filters

Tapping the “Filters” tab at the top shows filters that let you choose stations by category: you can view all stations on the map, or only those in specific categories (e.g. stations located at hotels, restaurants, near motorways, and more). Tapping the heart icon instead shows only the stations you’ve saved as favourites.

Among the filters you’ll also find one that lets you view only DC charging stations.

Location function

The “Location” function, shown as a blue arrow icon — circled in red — lets you update your position, so you can view charging stations near your current location, and helps you orient yourself on the map thanks to compass mode: the map follows your position and rotates with the car’s movements.

Charging stations

On the map you’ll find every public charging station interoperable with evway, allowing you to start and pay for charging with the App and/or the evway KeyFob.

The different shades of blue used for the pins indicate the station’s power: the lighter the colour, the lower the station’s power.

Charging stations located at hospitality venues, businesses, tourist attractions, and car parks are marked with category-specific markers. evway partners are marked with different coloured markers (e.g. orange for tourist venues, purple for businesses, green for entertainment venues…).

The markers also show the charging station’s status (a circle at the centre of the marker for public stations, a triangle at the base of the marker for category-specific stations):

  • green – the charging station is free
  • blue – the charging station is occupied
  • red – the charging station is under maintenance

Charging station details

Tapping a charging station — whether public or an evway business partner — opens a preview with the station’s main information: address, station type (AC – DC), distance, and status. Tapping “Start Charging” will begin the charging process. Tapping “Go” instead starts navigation — via the Maps app — to the chosen station.

For all the details on the charging process, see the “Charging process” section.

Charging

Starting and stopping a charge

To charge with CarPlay, select the station and tap “Start Charging”.

A series of detail screens will open, where you can choose the connector to charge on, your account, and the payment method to use.

Once you’ve checked the details are correct, you can start charging by tapping “Start”. Plug in the cable within 60 seconds and wait for the notification confirming the charge has started.

To stop the session, select the “Active session” tab and press the “Stop” button.

Active sessions and charging history

In the “Active Session” area you can view real-time information about your charge. The time shown depends on the time sent by the charging station’s operator, which may use a different time zone; the session duration, however, is always accurate.
